French Barn find unearths 60 cars. And they are spectacular.
Back in the 1950s, a successful French transport entrepreneur dreams of having car museum and starts buying mostly obscure French cars of design. Times get tough in the 70s and has to sell off 50 of them. Since then, the remaining 60 have not been touched.
Never again, anywhere in the world, will such a treasure be unearthed," says Pierre Novikoff, motor car specialist at Artcurial auction house. He's describing a staggering collection of 60 barn-find cars that have been discovered after lying hidden for 50 years.
And if you think he's exaggerating, then let me quote our photographer, Rémi Dargegen, who reported back to us right after the photo-shoot, saying, "It's amazing, just amazing. The place is incredible… the most impressive thing is the sheer quantity of cars hidden in the barns."

I just can't even. Even in really tough shape I don't see a single one that shouldn't
A. Get fixed up enough to start and drive and driven just cuz
or
B. Restored (less preferable option)
Lots of history there

There's little left of most of those cars. While the find is spectacular, it saddens me someone capable of buying such special vehicles isn't able to store them in a better (as in: dry) building.

I don't know if they're that bad. Certainly the more exposed ones will be in a sorry state but many of those we can see don't look bad once you allow for the dirt and grotty imteriors. Many of these cars - the Delages and Chapron Delahayes - are worth a fortune if there's enough there to restore and the Ferrari 250 looks pretty good.

NOM DE DIEU ! That's a great collection of cars.
I read Lancia Thema 8.32 on the list (Lancia with FWD Ferrari V8), it was unveiled in 1984 or 1985 so it was probably the last time someone open the barn to store a car in it.

Even if the Delages and Delahayes are badly damaged, someone will find a way to restore them. In good condition they're worth hundreds of thousands.

That gallery in the actual article just made me really sad. There is nothing left of most of those cars. All you can do now is take lots and lots of pictures to document them but there is no restoring possible.

Pretty interesting stash. Not very well preserved but at least they still exist. Most were probably quite bad when they were stashed.
Thema 8.32 is pretty new compared to the others (3/4 of the Ferraris were also quite new). How did that end up there?

Huh. I read the same article... guess I missed the list though. Regardless - I wish I had millions in a swiss bank right now. But not for the Ferrari. Give me the Maerati A6. And all of the T-26s.

Take's the hoarder mentality of "I'm going to restore it some day" to a whole new level. This makes me sick to my stomach. I wish I had the money to save just one. Hopefully they get restored or used to keep others running.
